Walk through downtown Kitchener exploring the theme of alcohol in its history. Discover the locations and people behind Berlin’s earliest breweries and the various establishments where people gathered to socialize over a drink. Meet interesting people in Berlin history, like the blacksmith who opened the city’s first tavern. Discover places you’ve walked past before or never knew were there, like the hotel whose name changed more times than the city’s did, the brewery that made Canada’s first lager, and the city’s first LCBO that opened after Prohibition. Finally, find out which city accused Waterloo County’s brewers of a major tax evasion scheme that threatened the whole industry!
